NEIGHBORHOOD

THE ENDLESS MOUNTAINS, AT YOUR DOORSTEP

There are places you visit, and places that invite you to stay awhile. Dunn Lake Preserve sits in the heart of Pennsylvania’s Endless Mountains, where pristine water, wooded hills, quiet country roads and four-season recreation create a setting that feels wonderfully removed from everyday life, yet remains within easy reach of the city.

LIFE BY THE LAKE

At the center of the preserve is Dunn Lake, a private spring-fed glacial lake spanning approximately 100 acres. With exceptionally clean water and limited lakefront ownership, it offers a rare sense of space and privacy. Days here are made for swimming, fishing, paddling and boating, followed by quiet evenings along the shoreline as the mountains settle into the distance.

The lake is intentionally low-density. Only 20 lakefront properties have access to the water, and owners may build private docks. Motorboats are welcome, while jet skis are not permitted. No-wake hours from 7 PM to 10 AM help preserve the calm, unhurried character of the lake.

FOUR SEASONS OF OUTDOOR LIVING

The surrounding landscape makes it easy to embrace the outdoors in every season. The 38-mile D&H Rail-Trail runs through the region, offering a scenic route for walking, biking, running, horseback riding and seasonal recreation. The Forest City trailhead provides convenient access to the trail, which follows the former Delaware & Hudson railway corridor through forests, streams and small communities.

Winter brings another dimension to the area. Just approximately 15 minutes away, Elk Mountain Ski Resort offers 180 skiable acres, 27 trails and a 1,000-foot vertical drop, with terrain for beginners through experienced skiers and riders.

Beyond skiing and the rail-trail, the region offers golf, hiking, fishing, kayaking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling, with four state parks and numerous outdoor destinations within easy reach.

SMALL TOWN CHARACTER

Forest City is approximately 10 minutes from Dunn Lake and offers the conveniences of a welcoming small town, along with local dining, markets, community events and direct access to the D&H Rail-Trail. Known as both a Trail Town and an Outdoor Town, Forest City embraces its natural surroundings and offers activities throughout the year.

Nearby Union Dale and the surrounding communities add to the area’s distinctly local character, while Scranton and Binghamton are both approximately 35 minutes away for expanded dining, shopping, entertainment and services.

CLOSE ENOUGH. FAR ENOUGH.

Dunn Lake Preserve offers an uncommon balance: genuine seclusion without sacrificing accessibility. New York City and Philadelphia are both under 2.5 hours away, making the preserve equally suited to extended weekends, summer escapes and a more permanent connection to the outdoors.

Here, the pace is different. Mornings begin on the water. Afternoons can unfold on the trails or at the lake. Winter weekends mean fresh snow and days at the mountain. And at the end of it all, home is a private piece of the Endless Mountains, surrounded by forest, water and the freedom to make the most of both.
